Mission & Vision

“Our vision as a community is to inspire a passion for learning and enriching children socially, culturally, intellectually, morally, aesthetically and technically, as we have to go a long way to achieve avowed objective of nation building.”

Vrindavan School’s Mission is to draw out the best in child and man, body, mind and spirit inculcating in them the seed of right virtue through education. To provide child centered education giving each and every individual equal emphasis by providing them the best infrastructure through our trained and experienced teachers. To make best use of educational books and to supplement it with other materials to enhance learning and make it concrete, so that the child get into the habit of making maximum utility of the provided materials.

A vision is what it takes to transform dreams to reality.   We too had a vision - A vision to better the lives of today to transform individuals to become stars of tomorrow through the medium of qualitative, competitive and holistic education.  Martin Luther King. Jr. Once said, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.”

A journey was commenced in 1990 - a quarter  of a decade ago – when the late Mrs. Lalita  Pradhan – Founder-Directress of the then Toddlers  School in Kalimpong – a pioneer educationist in her own rights, suggested that an ICSE School in the 12th Mile Area should be established.  Mr.Lawan Pradhan and his wife Mrs.Supriya Pradhan alongwith Mrs.Bindu Pradhan took up this challenge and seriously began initiating the establishment of a co-educational junior school. The school named - VRINDAVAN SCHOOL - commenced with just 16 students from the vicinity.

As the number of students increased and the school establishment grew stronger, in 1996 the family of Late Rai Saheb Bhim Bahadur Pradhan donated a part of their ancestral lands for the permanent establishment of the first school building and its other infrastructural requirements. The School Management was granted initial loans from the Co-operative Bank and State Bank of India – Kalimpong for these constructions.   Major financial initiative and assistance was also received from   the late Mrs. Chandrakala Gurung and also the Late Mr. R.C.Pradhan  - to whom we will remain ever grateful for their faith in our vision.

Today VRINDAVAN SCHOOL stands fully established at 12th Mile – nestled at the foothills of the majestic Deolo Hills at an elevation of 4,100 feet.  Situated just 5 Kilometers away from the humdrum of Kalimpong town, the location of the school  is ideal for fostering a learning culture. Spread over a vast expanse of land covered with forests, natural streams and beautiful gardens, the very atmosphere pristine - VRINDAVAN means abode of the gods.

The Founders – along with their team of committed teaching staff, made bold to gradually upgrade the school up to Class Eight in the new premises.   The turning point in the history of the school came about in 2004 when the Education Department ,  Government of West Bengal granted  NOC for up gradation to High School.  Immediately thereafter in 2004 itself the School was affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi.

Having received the much coveted affiliation the Founder Principal Mrs.Supriya Pradhan very ably took on the task of introducing many advanced changes into the entire school curriculum.

     1. The entire syllabus was divided into three terms. Monthly tests, unit tests and revision test were modified and stringently applied   to maintain a higher standard of academics

The school introduced and now offers a choice of Science, Commerce and Humanities from Class IX. Qualified and dedicated subject teachers in each of the three sections ensure that the students keep abreast of their academics. Vrindavan has an unparalleled record of having achieved 100% 1st Divisions at every ICSE Board Examination from the time it has received affiliation.

    2. Realizing the importance of the need for personal involvement of Parents and their roll in the development of their children in the school Mrs. Pradhan lays much emphasis on regular Parents-Teachers Meetings. Each parent – teacher conference is seen and utilized as an opportunity to discuss the individual childs’ learning skills and all-round development and to define a transparent relationship of teacher - student and parent.  Parents are strongly dissuaded from admitting their children to extra-tutorial classes. The school ensures timely completion of syllabus from the junior to the senior most classes and emphasizes maximum classroom attention. Parents are therefore encouraged to oversee their childs’ progress.

     3. The better prepared the teacher, the better the teaching and learning process – though a very simple taken-for-granted formula is a hall-mark at Vrindavan.  All this is personally scrutinized by the Principal to ensure absolute coverage of the syllabus.

Vrindavan has left no stone unturned over the past twenty five years in keeping abreast of every Technological advancement in education.  Improvisations and additions were made not only to enhance classroom teaching but also to expose and equip the students to match the advancing techno-savvy era.

  • The fully equipped Science Labs for first-hand practical classes was instituted in 2004 and is annually upgraded as per ICSE Curriculum.
  • The school provides smart class facilities with not only the equipment but also the teaching staff being continually trained and upgraded for effective teaching.
  • The Computer Lab. with 20 odd computers allows the children Wi-Fi, net surfing and subject – related downloading facilities for both students and staff.
  • Another major technical advancement has been the launching of the school website in the year 2005 which is periodically updated for the benefit mostly of parents who can keep themselves informed of all school activities through the website.
  • For the full security and safety of the students once on the campus, CCTV Cameras have been installed and Security Guards are posted round the clock at the Security Gate.

At Vrindavan School we follow a broad curriculum that encompasses a child’s educational, physical, moral and intellectual development.  Once on the school campus, it is our aim to train each child even beyond the walls of the classroom.

Extracurricular activities in the school include: Annual Athletics and games including Volleyball, Throw ball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Football, Basketball, Debates, Singing and Dancing, Martial arts, music lessons and Drawing and Art Competitions.  We have our own much acclaimed School Band too.  The school is affiliated to the Royal School of Music, London and hosts its annual Grading Examinations. Students are given the option of both Western and Eastern Music Lessons by trained and qualified Music Teachers. Martial Arts are also annually graded.  We must mention our latest addition to the sports sector of the school - a Multi-Gym with a qualified instructor.

To develop the students’ speaking and reading skills   and to increase confidence Vrindavan emphasizes morning speeches, PowerPoint Presentations. Elocution competitions and Debating.

Field trips for the students are periodically organized.  Senior students have been taken on excursions to excursion to Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim and other neighboring areas.  Treks and movies are not excluded.  Career counseling has been a regular feature.

It would not be out of place to put on record that the school annually organizes its “May Fete” the profits of which are solely   used for the sponsorship of underprivileged students of our own school.  This year we have 38 students who are either fully or partly sponsored, by the school.

At the national level, a major achievement for Vrindavan School was winning the 1st Prize at the All India Level Folk Dance Competition in Shimla in the year 2010.

In 2006 the Founder-Director Mr.Lawan Pradhan received the “Education Excellence Award” from the All India Business and Community Foundation – New Delhi for his outstanding contribution to the national development. The award was humbly received for and on behalf of all those who have contributed to the making of Vrindavan School and very recently our Director Sir has been awarded with the prestigious " The Francis Fanthome Lifetime Achievement Award 2022"by ASISC (WB Chapter)  Kolkota for his marvellous vision, dedication and commitment in the field of education.
